I would first like to wish all STA members and newsletter readers a happy and healthy Thanksgiving holiday. I hope that you each get a chance to relax with family and friends after such a busy season in the construction industry in New York.

I would like to bring to everyone’s attention our next big event, which will be on Wednesday, February 6. This event will feature the much-awaited panel presentation on Onerous Contract Clauses in Subcontractor Contracts. Today, union subcontractors are confronting even greater challenges in performing services as a result of a highly litigious environment that applies standard contract provisions and prevailing legal doctrines to a new era of larger, more complex construction projects.

At the event on February 6th, we will distribute our newest White Paper on Contract Clauses, written by STA Legal Counsel Henry Goldberg and his team at Moritt Hock & Hamroff. The purpose of this White Paper will be for our members to use it as a tool on best practices and for subcontractors, regardless of trade, to better understand how specific contract provisions and related legal precedents impact their projects and businesses.

Please look out for more information on this topic in the very near future.

As the year winds down, and we look forward to the new year, I hope that many STA members can join us in celebrating 2018 at our association holiday party on December 6! See our flyer in this newsletter for more information on that party.

Thank you,

Robert Weiss
