From time to time, I receive requests from STA members regarding issues, especially related to payment, that they might be experiencing with public agencies.  Many times, we are able to work though those issues and gain a favorable outcome for our members.  Among the agencies that we regularly work with in that regard are the New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA), New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC), New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP), New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), and the Port Authority of the New York and New Jersey among others.  In addition to this individual advocacy, the STA has put together “working groups” comprised of STA contractors who identify institutional issues and problems encountered by our members with these agencies.  The “working groups” then have a chance to meet from time to time with these public entities to increase the agencies’ awareness of the problems being experienced by subcontractors and seek solutions.

We are always in need of more members participating in these public agency “working groups” in order to gain a broader perspective on the problems that subcontractors are encountering with these public entities.  If you are interested in joining a “working group” for one of the public agencies listed above, or if there is another public agency that you would like to see the STA focus on, please reach out to me at hkita@stanyc.com.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”full_width_section” bg_position=”left top”][vc_column width=”1/1″][minti_divider margin=”0″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
