On October 18, the STA unveiled our latest White Paper. The association is committed to helping the economic position of subcontractors in New York City, and there is no better way than education on onerous contract clauses, how to avoid them, and how to protect yourself if there is no room for negotiation.

The White Paper, titled “What do you do? How to Better Manage Contracts, Preserve Claims & Reduce Project Risk” was written by STA Legal Counsel Andrew Richards of Kaufman, Dolowich, Voluck. We are grateful for the many years of expertise Mr. Richards brought to this paper, and the hard work that he and his team put in to writing it. At the event on the 18th, Mr. Richards presented on the contents, along with his KDV colleagues Elizabeth Marchionni and Erik Ortmann, who we also thank for their participation in this important event.

To access the White paper, please click here. If you would like to receive a hardcopy in the mail, please email Samantha Sweeney-Annarumma at ssweeney@stanyc.com.

STA will be holding follow up sessions that will dive deeper into some of these clauses in the coming months. Please look out for more information on those in your inbox.

Our last event of the year will be our annual holiday party on December 8 at the CohnReznick offices. Prior to the holiday party, a one-hour seminar on the social side of infrastructure presented by Holt Construction & American Global will take place at the venue. Please email Samantha to register early or for more information about these two events.

I would again like to extend many thanks to Andrew Richards and his team at KDV for their tireless work on our newest White Paper and the presentation on October 18.

As a reminder, the STA is always looking for members to serve on one of our various committees. In this newsletter is a description of each committee with meeting information. We hope you will support the STA by joining one!

Thank you,
Anthony Acerra
